“With large amounts of linoleic acid, Vitamin E, phytosterols, and polyphenols, prickly pear seed oil stimulates healthy cell production and turnover, provides protection and helps skin retain moisture. These components make the oil an extremely rich and skin-nourishing oil. It soothes, hydrates, and reduces inflammation that can damage collagen, and it can prevent skin aging and wrinkles.”

I love the Prickly pear Seed Oil! I used this on my face and neck at night and noticed an immediate brightening and lightening effect. What was most pronounced was where I did NOT use it. Moroccan Argan Oil and Social Change for Women

”alt

AS PART OF MY SOCIAL MISSION I TRAVEL ALL THE WAY IN THE SOUTH OF MOROCCO TO THE ARGAN LAND

During the summer break, when I go back home to France and Morocco, I always include work in my vacation program.
I have to admit that I do have the best job ever when I can enjoy this type of lifestyle: traveling, seeing my family, meeting my suppliers and giving back as part of my social mission to empower women.

My first stop was at the women’s cooperative in Arazane (60 miles south of Agadir) which is always an adventure to reach. I don’t like to drive in Morocco that much unless I really have to. And driving in or out of Casablanca is a nightmare. So I usually take CTM bus (like Greyhound) which is very useful, inexpensive and reliable.
A bus trip from Casablanca to Agadir is about 7-8 hours.

”alt

Map of Morocco - Khadija Fajry

Then I rent a car in Agadir from a friend that owns an agency (BAMOUS) to go to Arazane because I have no other choices.

Arazane is a tiny village south of Agadir, between Taroudant and Taliouine (that’s where the Moroccan saffron is produced -on my natural beauty bucket list). My assistant Mouna and I made sure to stop in Taroudant to get treats for all the kids and fruits for the women.

Taroudant is a small town that resembles Marrakech. This time I had to check out their souk (market) and it wasn’t disappointing. The selection of antique crafts was fascinating and I fell in love with a rare bead necklace that reminded me of the bead bracelets my grandmother used to make. I didn’t get a chance to fully explore the town and the souk but I will be back with more time for this city (and that necklace).

AN EMOTIONAL WELCOME FROM THE WOMEN AT COOPERATIVE TIRIZITE

We were welcomed with songs by the Berber women and I immediately forgot about all the travel hassle to get there.

That’s the part that gets me very emotional each time. With their songs they share their happiness to see us, they welcome us from our long journey and they express their gratitude for our generosity.

WE SHARED A DELICIOUS LUNCH MADE WITH INGREDIENTS GROWN AND PRODUCED LOCALLY BY THE BERBER WOMEN

We always get treated to the most delicious meal that we shared together while catching up.
The lamb in tagine was so tasty and tender. The whole-grain couscous, made by the women at the cooperative, with fresh vegetables was amazing.

”alt Whole grains couscous made and cooked by the women at Cooperative Tirizite Arazane

Of course, it was too much for lunch but trust me it is impossible to resist a meal like that made with love.

LOTS OF PROGRESS MADE BY THE COOPERATIVE BUT IT IS STILL HARD TO PRODUCE ARGAN OIL

The women produce culinary and cosmetic Argan oil at the cooperative. They also were trained to create other beauty products with their Moroccan Argan oil and other natural ingredients found locally. After several years they got to expand their product selection.

With the help of the Moroccan government, the cooperative made lots of renovations inside their facility since the department of health visit two years ago.
The president, Latifa Ait Abbou, attended many educational workshops and participated in several fairs (even overseas).

We had the opportunity to see her and other cooperatives at “Les Produits du Terroir” fair (Local Products & Produce) in Agadir. Saffron, honey, dates, walnuts, almonds, Argan oil (culinary & cosmetic), goat cheese, camel milk, and prickly pear products (prickly pear seed oil, jam, flour, nopal pickles) were presented to us and we got to taste everything. I bought a Rose Saffron flower hydrosol toner that I am testing and you might see it in KENZA “be generously beautiful”™ line soon.

”alt

All of these initiatives helped them to distribute their products to specialty local stores, markets, and even get clients overseas.

All the women are wearing a blouse and cap while cracking the Argan nuts now, but they are still sitting on the floor all day to do this work.

I sat there for less than an hour and my back started to hurt, my feet were numb and my hips were sore.
Watch as I tried to crack the Argan nuts again. The women were cheering me on and giving me a few tips but it was really hard. I managed to crack a tiny one and hurt my fingers many times.

They laughed at me a little bit and it was their humble way to show me that their job wasn’t easy. I knew since the first time I met them in 2012 that their life was hard and I admire their courage for stepping out of their home to do this type of work.

Don’t get me wrong even if it is a hard job they are very proud to be able to provide for their family, their community, to gain financial independence, to get empowered by other women around them, to get an education, and most importantly be confident in themselves.

This initiative led by the Moroccan government to develop and improve the lives of women in rural areas is a success overall. But there is always more that can be done and it often has to come from larger corporations or private organizations with major funds.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE AN IMPACT ON SOCIAL CHANGE FOR WOMEN

{Watch the video of our first visit in 2012}

As a small social enterprise, our modest contributions are just providing a small but encouraging boost for these women to continue their work. It makes me proud to be part of the evolution of their social status even if it is a small one but I believe that small contributions from many sources can lead to great change.

That’s our vision and we’ll keep doing our part until we can do even more in Morocco, The United States and around the globe.

The women and I want to thank each one of you for your generosity all these years. We are grateful to have your partnership in our social mission.

When you purchase our KENZA “be generously beautiful”™ beauty products you are helping to change lives for women.

Sourcing the best Rose Oil in Morocco

Every year in May, the town of Kalaat M’Gouna, Morocco (located 59 miles Northeast of Ouarzazate) celebrates roses with a seven-day festival (fair, concerts, and Miss Rose pageant).

During this event, the town population grows twenty-fold when people from all over the world arrive to “discover its beauty and its rose products that range from perfume, rose water, essential oil, to cosmetic products.”

Although Kalaat M’Gouna is in the desert, it has a lush green oasis thanks to the Draa River that flows from the High Atlas mountains and it is Morocco’s longest. The road through the Atlas mountains {Tiz N’Tichka} from Marrakech to Ouarzazate is the most picturesque but can be annoying if you are sensitive to too many roads turns.

Did you know that rosewater hydrosol is produced while the rose essential oil is distilled? Therefore rosewater has molecules similar to those of Rose oil Otto that gives it amazing benefits for skin and hair.

KENZA Rose Toner

The rose Damascena (also known as the Damask rose) is harvested during the second week of May for the production of rose oil and rose hydrosol floral water.

“The flowers are renowned for their fine fragrance, and are commercially harvested for rose oil (either “rose Otto” or “rose Absolute”) used in perfumery and to make rose water.” Rose Otto has been used since ancient times and it is the more expensive of the two types of oils because it is usually extracted by gentle steam distillation from the Damask rose (e.g. Rose Maroc). Rose Absolute, instead, is produced by solvent extraction, is more viscous than rose Otto.

I fell in love with Rose Oil at an international fair in Casablanca in 2013.

I knew then it was the real essential oil that was presented to me in a dark glass tiny vial kept in a treasure box. And I have seen in Morocco fake “rose oil” sold in clear large glass bottles, displayed openly on shelves in bright daylight, and at a ridiculously cheap price.

Sourcing the best natural ingredients for the KENZA International Business beauty line can be a difficult task that sometimes last years. But perseverance paid off when I met Mohamed at his headquarters in the “valley of the roses” in Kalaat M’Gouna.

I was offered a delicious Moroccan Rose tea upon arriving at the cooperative which is the traditional welcoming ceremony for guests in Morocco but usually, it is Mint tea.

Drinking Rose Tea made with organic dry rose flowers (dried in the distillery) was very soothing and calming especially after my road trip to get there.

Let’s talk about what makes this family own small rose cooperative very unique in Kelaat M’Gouna. I visited roses plantations before where roses plants were planted around other crops (vegetables, wheat, and fruits) to fence them in.

That’s because farmers didn’t give a value of planting rows of roses.

When Mohamed’s father began to plant roses in this region, everyone thought he was crazy for planting hectares of only roses.
Nevertheless, Mohamed’s father harvested tons of rose petals and sold them to the main distillery in town.
Not only this method makes it easier for women to collect the flowers by having the crops in one area, but it also makes it more productive and efficient.

Thanks to his father, Mohamed is today the proud owner of a 40+ hectares rose plantation, a distillery, and his own line of beauty products – organic rose essential oil and rose hydrosol – certified by EcoCert, USDA Organic, and BIO by Agriculture Biologique (Europe).

Did you know that in Kelaat M’Gouna they use the Springwater of the Draa river for the steam distillation process?

Learn more about how essential oils are steam distilled

I was honored to receive the “private tour” of his fields and distillery {watch the video above} and to observe how Moroccan women handpick rose flowers when they bloom in the early morning. Each woman carries a burlap bag in which she collects the rose flowers that are weighed at the end of the day.

Did you know that about 4000 tonnes of Roses produce a liter of rose oil Otto? That’s why it is one of the most expensive beauty oil (more than Prickly Pear Seed Oil)

KENZA International Beauty is proud to source a certified and high-quality Rose Otto oil and Rose water hydrosol from Mohamed’s plantation.

Moroccan Beauty Ritual SPA

Perhaps you’ve been to Morocco and you were lucky enough to have experienced our Moroccan hammam beauty ritual and now you want to recreate this wonderful experience (and in our opinion, this is the ultimate self-care beauty ritual you can give to yourself). We can help you do that!

In Morocco women and men go to the hammam at least once a week to cleanse their mind, body, and soul. The hammam is a bathhouse, similar to the Turkish bath, where you go to get a whole body scrub to remove the dead skin, cleanse yourself and get a body massage.

When I go to Morocco I overindulge in this traditional beauty ritual and When I come back to my home in New York I enjoy recreating it because my body and soul miss it.

KENZA Beldi Soap & Kissa Exfoliating glove.

At KENZA International Beauty we provide you with the best Moroccan beauty products at affordable prices for you to enjoy this experience at home.

We have now the perfect Moroccan beauty ritual set for you that we will offer at a special price of $109 ($166 value) for a limited time.

A small business owner fighting copyright infringement

Fighting copyright infringement.

Over the past six years that KENZA International Beauty has been in business, my content, as well as photographs, have been violated by various companies in Europe, Africa and now the United States.

In legal term it is called copyright infringement: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_infringement

Usually, it is from new start-ups or very small businesses that either were not aware of this rule or simply tried and hoped not to be caught. As easy as it is to download a picture or copy content online it is pretty simple to find your work online on other sites. After being kindly notified they apologize and remove the picture or content from their website. But sometimes you have to apply other ways and let’s just say that I was responsible for several websites to be shut down.

The common rule is that when you find a picture on a public domain such as Google and you decide to use it, you have the obligation to first check to whom it belongs, ask for authorization to use it from the owner, or use it and give credit.

You also have tons of photographs ready to be purchased from Shutterstock, Getty images, Adobe Stock, and many others for a couple of dollars that can be used legally.

This time one of my Argan tree pictures was simply stolen by Nick Chavez Beverly Hills. Without any authorization or credit for my copyrighted work, or shame Nick Chavez Beverly Hills just photoshopped his Thirst Quencher Hydrating Hairspray with Argan oil product on my picture to use it for marketing, commercial and promotion purposes for several months until I confronted them.

This instagram post was posted on May 31st, 2018 then removed.

Advertising on Instagram his product with my picture.
This post was later removed.

After a public pressure via social media (nowadays that’s the best way to get attention and that’s when Facebook become an efficient way to communicate with corporations), they removed it from all their social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest) where they were shamelessly advertising their product: Thirst Quencher Hydrating Hairspray with Argan oil. They also placed it in a newsletter campaign that was sent via an internet service company called Milled.

This was on Milled.com until it will be removed by Google as I requested it by law (DMCA takedown) .

Proudly showing his products via a newsletter using Milled.
.

DMCA Takedown Milled Nick Chavez Beverly Hills 92618

Instead of apologizing for their illegal action they arrogantly challenged me to prove that I was the owner of this particular picture. Well, that picture was taken almost two years ago on a rainy day in the garden of Atlas Kasbah hotel in Agadir, Morocco. For this particular photo shoot, I took a long flight from New York to Casablanca (8 hours), a bus trip to Agadir with my Assistant (7 hours), a car rental and a hotel stay to be able to take this unique photo.

And by the way this unique Argan tree with wet Argan nuts is registered as my copyright work now:
Argan Tree Agadir – ©2016 KENZA International Beauty.

Argan Tree Agadir ©2016 KENZA International Beauty

They naively stated that when they found my picture on Google (which by the way, was posted on my Blog: What is Argan Oil? where it is clearly mentioned at the bottom: All content is copyright @KENZA International Beauty – Khadija Fajry)

“they were not familiar with my company and website”

so they just decided to take it without permission. Well of course, how easy! I bet they wouldn’t have touched it if they saw L’Oréal instead or Getty Images.
{ps: it would be great if Google added a protection for all the non-licensed pictures not to be downloaded easily.}.

As many of you know by now just by following my blog, being a client or just a fan on social media, part of my work is to travel on location (Morocco, France) to share with you my discoveries, new ingredients, and share as much information as I can that relate to the production of the botanical ingredients used in my KENZA be generously beautiful™ line.

Khadija Fajry admiring the beautiful Argan Tree at Atlas Kasbah hotel in Agadir, Morocco where the famous picture was taken the day before when it rained. – Photo taken by my Assistant Mouna.

This is where my Argan Tree picture was taken when it rained.

I spend a big part of my budget on these work travels (time, transportation, accommodations, food, guides, etc) and getting the highest ingredients available too because it is important for me not only to show you the source of everything I use in my KENZA beauty line but also let you discover with me.

Every picture you will see on my blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google, Pinterest and YouTube, are my own.
All of these photographs are copyrighted as soon as you are the one taking them but if you want to add a layer of protection it is better to register them at https://www.copyright.gov

I am happy to collaborate, share and give information when you simply ask but I will not tolerate that you have the shameless audacity to steal my work.

This statement is for my clients and followers to know what happens behind the scenes. I thank you all for your support during this case and for the past six years. This is also for other small business owners that have to deal with this copyright infringement situation. You are not alone. We have laws that protect us and our work. Don’t let it go unsolved.

It is also for Nick Chavez Beverly Hills clients worldwide (on his website, QVC, Dermastore, Amazon, and all the other marketplaces that he sells on) to see how unethical, arrogant and shameless this company is to take advantage of a small business like mine instead of just spending a couple of dollars to purchase a picture or license it legally because they can clearly afford it.

What does that tell you about the way Nick Chavez Beverly Hills conducts his business?

I am a minority woman small business owner and I will do all I can to protect and defend my work.

Feel free to leave a comment and tell us what you think of this. Share your experience on how you fighting copyright infringement for your company.

Why do I bring my Argan oil with me when I travel and especially to Morocco?

Why do I bring my Argan oil with me when I travel and especially to Morocco where it is widely available?

We all know by now that Argan oil or Moroccan oil is only sourced in Morocco. It is an oil that is produced from Argan nuts that grow only in the southern part of Morocco.

When you travel to Morocco you can see it everywhere and with its increased popularity this last decade worldwide, everybody got into producing and selling Argan oil in Morocco. Unfortunately not all products on the market are regulated which makes it difficult for you buyers to differentiate between good Argan oi, chemically processed and even fake ones.

How can you be sure you are buying pure, authentic, unadulterated, and unrefined Moroccan Argan oil?

That was my main mission when I decided to launch KENZA International Beauty. Those were my worries. How can I be sure to provide only the highest quality, 100% Pure and organic Moroccan Argan oil?

Being native from this country, knowing so well the behind the scenes of the Argan oil business led me to search for the only supplier that can guarantee the highest quality with not only laboratory tests analyses but also certifications like USDA organic and most importantly ISO9001 international quality certification.

Most production of Argan oil in Morocco is organic and has been handcrafted by Berber women at cooperatives for centuries.

How Moroccan Argan oil is produced is one question to ask but the main concern to have is how is it processed, what production requirements does it go through, how is it packaged and what are the procedures implicated to guarantee the quality of the final product?

This is why I found a supplier in Morocco, and one of the few here that is ISO9001 certified.
Every batch that enters the manufacture goes first to be tested for authenticity and quality. Every batch no matter how long they have been working with the cooperatives supplying them.

At KENZA International Beauty we offer two organic Moroccan oils: Argan oil and Prickly Pear Seed Oil that go through the extensive regulated process from production, packaging to shipping to guarantee that you are only using the highest quality products.

Try our KENZA Pure Argan oil!

KENZA Pure Argan oil is a multipurpose natural moisturizer, non-greasy, rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids that will nourish your skin and hair. It is safe and good for the whole family.

I want all of you to try it and take it with you on your next travel or just to replace your regular moisturizer, hair conditioner, and body lotion. It works great as an after-sun too.

KENZA Pure Argan oil and selected beauty products are on sale now until 5/31/18.

And if you are an indie beauty formulator we have also our Organic Argan oil wholesale on sale.

“Being natural is incredibly empowering for women because it’s just who you are. You’re embracing all the beautiful things about you from your head to your toes. Because when you mask so much of your natural beauty, people don’t get to see that.”

(Rozonda Thomas)

The singer-songwriter and early ‘90s member of group TLC is spot on with her quote about natural beauty. And a lot of people seem to agree with her.

According to a recent report by Grand View Research, “growing demand for organic and natural hair care, skin care, and cosmetic products is expected to augment” the growth of the global organic personal care market to $25.1 billion by 2025 as demand for organic skincare, haircare, and cosmetics drives consumers to look for natural and organic labels.

Because skincare (body lotions, sunscreens, and face creams) is expected to have the largest market share, followed by haircare, natural and organic skincare is expected to be close to one-third of the total global organic beauty market.

This phenomenal growth is driven by factors such as:

– Changing consumer perception towards organic products

– Growing awareness of harmful effects associated with chemical substances

– Rising demand for chemical-free skin and hair care products

– Changing lifestyle of consumers regarding organic personal care

– The ability of natural ingredients to provide anti-oxidation properties and improve skin immunity

– E-commerce as a key source used by consumers’ access to products that are otherwise unavailable in malls and retail stores

– Stringent regulations promoting natural product use in the skincare industry

The global cosmetic market is highly competitive due to many large cosmetic brands. Market leaders are launching new products and acquiring smaller companies to grow their product line and to expand geographically.
KENZA International Beauty has carved a niche in this ultra-competitive market by providing the highest quality natural beauty products to meet the increasing demand for clean label products by health conscious consumers globally.

We also supply many indie beauty brands around the world that proudly create unique cosmetics with our wholesale organic Moroccan oils
Argan oil and Prickly Pear Seed Oil) and Essential oils (Lavender and Lavandin oils) sourced from Provence, France.

Our customers are now free to use less or no make-up and let their natural beauty shine!

WHAT IS PRICKLY PEAR SEED OIL (Barbary Fig Oil, Cactus Oil, Aknari or Opuntia Ficus Indica)?

The Opuntia Ficus Indica plant is a member of the cactus family and is commonly known as Prickly Pear (also known as India Fig Opuntia or Barbary Fig). Also called the miracle plant for its ability to survive during long droughts and still produce healthy fruits, the cactus plant grows in open fields without exposure to fertilizers or pesticides.

The Prickly Pear fruit contains numerous small black seeds from which the precious Prickly Pear Seed Oil is extracted. The oil has been used by generations of Berber women to fend off the effects of dry desert conditions.

Prickly Pear Seed Oil is one of the most expensive beauty oils in the world. Its production requires a labor intensive and time consuming (up to four days) process manually handled by Moroccan women at cooperatives. How to create your own Hammam SPA?

I love my Saturdays!
Taking time off should be taken without guilt.

Don’t you love the weekend when you get to relax, exercise, spend quality time with your family and friends and most importantly pamper yourself?

After a long week of work managing my business, taking care of my family and figuring out what’s for dinner, I make sure to take some time off and Saturday is my day. On that day, I am neither a mom nor a wife, I am Khadija and I make myself a priority. It may sound selfish but I truly believe that you can always give the best of yourself when you take time to decompress, change your mind and step out of your routine.

What I love is taking fitness classes or working out on my own at Equinox Fitness Club. After working out I love to treat myself, depending on how much time I have, with either a reflexology massage a manicure & pedicure or with a Moroccan Hammam SPA (my ultimate favorite).

©2014 KENZA International Beauty

Of course I bring all I need: Beldi soap (Moroccan Black Soap), kissa (exfoliating glove), a hair mask, a facial scrub (that I also use as a mask because it has dry rose petals powder, honey and Argan oil. Soon available in our e-store), and my Argan oil, Fusion oil and Eye Serum. Oh, I forgot I soak my hair the night before with my Hair oil Treatment too.

Moroccan Rose Water

It took me few hours, a plane over the Atlantic ocean, a bus through the Atlas Mountains and a car to reach Kelaa M’Gouna near Ouarzazate, Morocco to smell the Roses of the Dades region.

Our Pure Rosewater comes from Kelaa M’Gouna, Morocco, the source of the most sought-after Roses in the beauty, cosmetics and perfumes industry. KENZA Moroccan Rose Water is produced by distillation of organic roses petals from the Dades region near Ouarzazate.

– The product is considered one of the most expensive vegetable oil. This is on account of limited supply coupled with a high requirement. Expensive nature of the product is expected to result in high revenues over the forecast period.

– Cosmetics segment was the leading application segment and accounted for over 40% of total demand in 2014 and is expected to show significant growth in the coming years. The growth of personal care industry is expected to drive this segment over the forecast period.

– Medical and food application areas are expected to witness high growth rates over the forecast period. Product demand in medical segment is expected to be driven by its potential to cure diseases including cancer, inflammatory problems, cholesterol levels, and food digestion.

– Middle East & Africa was the leading regional market both in terms of production and consumption. Argan oil is majorly consumed by rural economy of Morocco, which is a major producer, therefore, demand rate is higher in the region as compared to others.

– North America is expected to witness the highest CAGR of 20.2% from 2014 to 2022 on account of its increasing demand in cosmetics for hair treatment and skin care products and in the medical industry for disease treatment.

Lavender and Lavandin oils from Provence

Provence Lavender, France

Provence Lavender, France

While growing up in Provence, in the South of France, I was always surrounded by Lavender scent, but I did not know the full story of how it was produced.

Because I like to know more than just the ingredients and benefits of the products we distribute at KENZA International Beauty, I decided to conduct some in-depth research on French Lavender from Provence, before I consider adding it to the KENZA Skin & Hair product line.

Always ask the locals
My brother Adil is very active in the community of our hometown of Istres in Provence. He works for the city government, knows everyone in town, and is its “unofficial” mayor. So, when I mentioned to him I was searching for a good source of lavender, he started going through his contact list (LinkedIn would be jealous) and voila’ found the perfect connection.

He picked up the phone and called his friend Guy do Cavaco whose wife works at the largest Lavender distillery in France, in Sault en Provence.
With Guy da Cavaco With Guy da Cavaco

We soon learned that, coincidentally, the small village was celebrating “Le festival de la Lavande.”
I took the next train to Avignon, then rented a car, and headed straight to Sault through the most beautiful scenery, country side, and villages.

Sault en Provence & Le Festival de la Lavande

At the “Festival de la Lavande” in Sault, I met Bill Flanagan, an American blogger who vividly shares his experience in his blog Lost in Provence. He does an amazing job reporting on this beautiful region, on its people, and on Lavender, the “Purple gold”. Watch it Purple Gold, you will enjoy it.

Lavender cutting competition

The Lavender distillery
At the distillery, I tried to learn everything about Lavender, Lavandin, and the products they manufacture with these essential oils. I even tasted a drink, a cookie, and a crepe made with Lavender!

Lavender or Lavandin?
Both are essential oils produced by steam distillation.
Lavender is a small aromatic evergreen shrub of the mint family. It has narrow leaves and bluish-purple flowers. It has been widely used in perfumes and medicines since ancient times. It is mostly used in skincare and aromatherapy.

Moroccan Argan oil and social change for women

Argan Oil: A Moroccan Craft

Argan Oil: A Moroccan Craft

My fourth annual visit to the women coop in Arazane

In late September, I traveled to Morocco to visit the Tirizite cooperative in Arazane for the fourth time in as many years. In addition to my support of the New York Women’s Foundation and of Turning Point for Women and Families, I try to help the cooperative Tirizite as much as I can as part of the KENZA International Beauty socially responsible mission.

My fourth annual visit to the women coop in Arazane

My fourth annual visit to the women coop in Arazane

After an 8hr bus ride from Casablanca to Agadir and another 2hr car drive, I arrived at Arazane. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot of Latifa’s house, I could hear the women singing a welcoming song in their Berber language. It brought tears to my eyes and warmed my heart.

Every year the coop makes some progress. Latifa, the coop Director, informed me the coop has joined a union of cooperatives in the Taroudant area (this will allow it to pool some resources, to share best practices, and to have a stronger market presence); has been certified NormaCert which guarantees the Argan oil origin and quality; successfully underwent an inspection by the Moroccan Department of Health; and it will be showcased in a fair in Germany representing Moroccan products. These are all great news but have expenses attached.

Cooperative Tirizite Arazane Morocco

On the other hand, new challenges always arise. I also learned the women had not been working for some time because the coop had run out of Argan nuts and it could not afford to buy any more. Therefore, this year KENZA International Beauty donated the coop a lump sum to buy about 3,000 lb. of Argan nuts and to cover other expenses. This aid helps the coop provide jobs for the women so that they can be more productive and financially independent.

Argan oil Social change

My assistant and I spent the day with the women to learn more about their work and responsibilities at the cooperative. Here are two videos that we hope you will enjoy and see how the Argan oil process is not as easy as it seems. We value the hard work of all the women working in cooperatives in Morocco producing many products that we all love.

We are grateful for your continuous support, for being loyal to our brand: KENZA“be generously beautiful”™ and for allowing us to spread more LOVE-BEAUTY-GENEROSITY

The Amazing Skin benefits of Prickly Pear Seed Oil

Prickly Pears Cactus Tree

Prickly Pears Cactus Tree – ©KENZA International Beauty

Although I have used Argan Oil for many years, I have to admit that it was not until earlier this year that I discovered Pure Prickly Pear Seed oil. This happens to be another beauty treasure from my native country of Morocco and which Europeans have been crazy about for many years already. It is a potent antioxidant beauty oil that it is currently the most sought after ingredient for the beauty and cosmetic industry.

Pure Prickly Pear Seed Oil is also one of the most expensive beauty oils in the world. Its production requires a labor intensive and time-consuming (up to four days) process manually handled by Moroccan women at cooperatives. The Prickly Pear seeds are separated from the pulp and are then dried before being cold pressed. Because each seed contains only 5% of oil, up to 60 lbs. of seeds (or half a ton of fruit) are required to yield about 34oz. of oil.

This oil contains more Tocopherol (molecules with strong antioxidant and free radical scavenging properties) than any other oil available in the beauty care market (almost 1-1/2 times more Tocopherol than Argan oil).

KENZA-Pure-Fusion-OilI am myself a user and a fan of this precious oil. I had two large dark spots on my face due to hyper-pigmentation. My dermatologist prescribed the usual chemical “bleaching” hydroquinone creams as treatment.

However, my face skin had a bad reaction to the creams and it turned dry, itchy, with red spots. I immediately stopped using the creams, canceled my follow up appointments, and instead decided to try this organic, pure, and natural product. I applied it religiously every night and, after a few months, I can show you that this precious oil does indeed work. My dark spots have diminished and my complexion is even and smooth. Also, my eye shadows are brighter while my skin is deeply moisturized and has a healthy, natural glow.

For people that, like me, have suffered from skin imperfections that make us feel uncomfortable, here is a completely natural product with exceptional components that, used in a concentrated form, will give you results.

During my first trip to Morocco in behalf of KENZA International Beauty LLC, I was able to secure a reliable supplier of Pure Prickly Pear Seed Oil that will allow me to make it affordable and accessible to all of you. Goats on the Argan trees in Morocco…well I told you so!

For many years I traveled to the south of Morocco, in the Souss area where the Argan trees forest is and I never saw a goat on a tree. Well, there are no tourists in this area compared to Essaouira.

Finally, the truth is coming out thanks to The Telegraph. I have been saying for years that it was a tourist trap. I travel often to the south of Morocco where the Argan trees forest is and where real Argan oil is produced and I never saw any goats on the Argan tree nor that I have a picture of it.

Plus many media outlets were spreading that most Argan oil was produced from collecting the Argan nuts from goat poop.
That process has stopped many moons ago since now Moroccan Argan oil is sold worldwide and high-quality standards are applied.

Article from The Telegraph.
